Lyrics

Baby, Take Me Downtown

Baby, take me downtown, take me out tonight
Remember when we used to dance until the morning light?
How you'd whisper in my ear, and beg me for a kiss?
That easy-goin' kind of fun, I sure do miss
Oh Baby, take me downtown, take me out tonight

I wanna put on make-up, I wanna dress up nice
A little bit of skin might put a sparkle in your eyes
I'm tired of the same old - sittin' on the couch
Goin' 'round and 'round' and 'round
Why don't you take me out?

I know I'm gettin' old but I think I still look good
I keep my figure trim and I know you still get wood!
So come and take me baby, and after that we'll go
Just want a bit of romance, you know I love you so

Don't want to eat Tim Horton's, don't want that Swiss Chalet
You can take that Big Mac and shove it in your face!
'Cause I'm a classy lady, I want a first-rate meal
Spend a little on me honey, show me that your love is real

Baby, take me downtown, take me out tonight
Remember when we used to dance until the morning light?
How you'd whisper in my ear, and beg me for a kiss?
That easy-going kind of fun, I sure do miss
Oh baby, take me downtown, take me out tonight

You told me that you loved me and looked into my eyes
Couldn't live without me, well it took me by surprise!
So why is it so difficult to get you through that door?
When all I'm asking you to do is just a little more
Oh baby, take me downtown, take me out tonight

Baby, take me downtown, take me out tonight
Remember when we used to dance until the morning light?
How you'd whisper in my ear, and beg me for a kiss?
That easy-going kind of fun, I sure do miss
Oh baby take me downtown, take me out tonight

Ten-Year-Old-Blues

If only life could be a video game, I could be a hero each and every day
Fightin' bad guys, collectin' coins, earnin' lives and rackin' up the points
But it's not, nope, life's not a video game

If only life could be a TV show, I'd be the star everyone would know
Smilin' bright as the afternoon sun, I'd be rich and it would be so fun
But it's not, nope, life's not a TV show

But it just isn't fair, does anybody even care?
I've got the ten-year-old blues!
I've got the ten-year-old blues!

If only life would be a comic-con, I'd spend my days with a costume on
Spiderman would be my best friend, shootin' webs out until the end
But it's not, nope, life's not a comic-con

If only life could be a fairy-tale, I'd slay a dragon and I would not fail
Save the girl and I'd kiss her too, happy endings for me and you
But it's not, nope, life's not a fairy tale

I wana do it all on my own, I wanna spend an hour on my phone
Just let me cut a mohawk in my hair, don't like it when you tell me life's not fair!
I've got the ten-year-old blues!
I've got the ten-year-old-blues!

If only life could be a carnival ride, I would never have to wait in line
Endless thrills goin' up and down, spinnin' circles around and around
Well, that's actually kind of what life is like!

But it just isn't fair, does anybody even care?
No it just isn't fair, does anybody even care?
I've got the ten-year-old blues!
I've got the ten-year-old blues!

Hardworking Man

Alarm goes off, it's five a.m., gotta get out of bed again
Aching back, muscles are sore, another day goin' out the door
Work like a dog but the job's never done, startin' to feel like life's no fun
Tryin' to build a successful name, each day seems a little too much the same

He's a hardworking man, doin' what he can, diggin' for gold with nothin' in his hand
Don't you know I'm a forever fan?... how I love my hardworking man.

Sweatin' through the day just to make a buck, goin' through the motions but feelin' stuck
Wantin' a change but not sure what, hopin' for an easy way outta this rut
Wonderin' if there's any point at all, startin' to feel a little too small
Workin' the dirt, just to provide, I'm never gonna leave his hardworking side

He's a hardworking man, doin' what he can, diggin' for gold with nothin' in his hand
Don't you know I'm a forever fan?... how I love my hardworking man

Money comes in but even more goes out, doesn't want to stay in the bank account
Wantin' to keep on doin' what's right, never give up won't lose this fight
Doin' what his daddy did before, makin' a way for something more
Not sure how it'll all work out, but love is what it's all about

He's a hardworking man, doin' what he can, diggin' for gold with nothin' in his hand
Don't you know I'm a forever fan?... how I love my hardworking man

He's a hardworking man, doin' what he can, diggin' for gold with nothin' in his hand
Don't you know I'm a forever fan?... how I love my hardworking man

Goin' Fishin'

Remember drivin' down that dusty road, sittin' in the front seat
Headin' west out to good ol' times, just you and me
You sang along to the radio, I tried to sing along with you
Bouncin' in that broken-down Ford, singin' so we don't feel blue

Goin' fishin', don't know what we're gonna find
Goin' fishin', trolling for some peace of mind

The dog is panting on the floor, hair is blowin' all around
A lazy Saturday in July, cruisin' with the windows down
Leave my troubles at the door, when you come for me
Forever be your little girl and my Daddy you'll always be

Goin' fishin, don't know what we're gonna find
Goin' fishin', trolling for some peace of mind

I'll never get too big for you to hold me in your arms
We don't need to hurry back let's stay 'till it gets dark

Hear the loon a callin', floatin' on the lake
Water drippin' from the oars, lines bobbin' in the wake
Restin' in our lucky spot, hidin' in the reeds
Fluffy cattails standin' tall, swayin' in the breeze

Goin' fishin', don't know what we're gonna find
Goin' fishin', trolling for some peace of mind

Hitch

Went to a party all night long, I didn't have a way to get home
Thought maybe I could catch a ride, you came running up to my side
It could be a little more fun to mosey on now with someone
Something 'bout you seemed alright, saw our children in your eyes

Hitch-hiking on the highway, is where I knew
Hitch-hiking on the highway, can I hitch myself to you?

I sure had the time of my life, I wanted then to be your wife
Tell me that you felt it too, hitchin' rides on Queen-E Two
Took us nearly all that day to get back home the freebie way
You wanted just a bit more time; I wanted you to be all mine

Hitch-hiking on the highway, is where I knew
Hitch-hiking on the highway, can I hitch myself to you?

Do you feel it too? A love you know is true
That it's meant to be, just you and me
Do you feel it too? A love you know is true
That it's meant to be, just you and me

Hitch-hiking on the highway, is where I knew
Hitch-hiking on the highway, can I hitch myself to you?

Don't you go a runnin' scared, my whole life I've been prepared
For this time alone with you, it's as if my heart just knew
Maybe this is too intense, but I've got a tinglin' sense
You will come around in time and one day you will be all mine

Hitch-hiking on the highway, is where I knew
Hitch-hiking on the highway, can I hitch myself to you?

Hitch-hiking on the highway, is where I knew
Hitch-hiking on the highway, gonna hitch myself to you!

Get On That Train

I hear the train a comin', whistle from afar
Echoes in the valley, whispers to my heart
Freedom in that lonesome cry, callin' out to me
Softened by the fallin' snow, nestled in the trees

Oh, where is it going? I wish I knew
I want to get on that train

Rollin' through the mountains, passing rivers blue
When I hear it lowing, it makes me think of you
I love your gentle laughter, the sunlight in your eyes
You told me you believe in me and so I've got to try

But where is it going? I wish I knew
I want to get on that train

The thing that's holdin' on to me is just my biggest fear
But with you I have courage to jump when it gets near
Not sure where it's headed, but I know if I have faith
Lord, you'll even out the bumps and make the journey straight

Oh where is it going? I wish I knew
I want to get on that train

Where is it going? Don't want to miss it
I'm getting on that train!

Unicorns

Princess gown, hair done up nice, spinnin' around and around
Mom's high-heels don't fit quite right, little girl falls to the ground
Now she's a kitten, cuddly and small, crawling around on the floor
Big brown eyes, got nothin' but time, pretendin' to be at the store

When did I stop believin' in unicorns? When did I last wear a dress? Make a mess?
It's been awhile since I danced to a song - where has the wonder all gone?

Jumps on the bed, ready to fly, reaches out with her hands
Thinks she can almost touch the sky, and maybe next time she can
Puts on make-up, just a bit, thinks she's all grown up
Hugs and kisses for Mom and Dad, hearts that burst with love

Today did I tell her she's so very special?
Today did I say that she'll always be mine
Did I give her my love in a tangible way?
Give her my light to shine?

When did I stop believin' in unicorns? When did I last wear a dress? Make a mess?
It's been awhile since I danced to a song, where has the wonder all gone?

Wants to sleep with all the lights on, asks for Mommy to stay
Snuggles down and holds her hand, sleep is comin' her way
Mother sings a lull-a-bye, quietly breathes out a prayer
Tucks her in and pats her back, softly kisses her hair

When did I stop believin' in unicorns? When did I last wear a dress? Make a mess?
It's been awhile since I dance to a song, where has the wonder all gone?

When did I stop believin' in unicorns? When did I last wear a dress? Make a mess?
It's been awhile since I danced to a song, where has the wonder all gone?
Where has the wonder all gone?

Mountain Gal

No matter where I roam, the Rockies are my home, the musty smell of dirt and pine
Majestic to my sight, splendour in their height, a fortress that's forever mine

Lakes of emerald green, waterfalls and springs, a gravel road that takes me by the hand
Forests dense and lush, nothin' here is rushed, peace that overwhelmes me where I stand

Oh the Sheep River's always flowin', and time just keeps rollin' on
One thing that doesn't ever change: The Alberta Rocky Mountain Range

The sun is shinin' bright, everything's alright, the mountain top is where I can be free
Out here in the wild, I just gotta smile, the Rockies are the place for me

I've traveled 'round the world, a ramblin' sort of girl, goin' where the north wind blows
Whatever road I'm on, I hear the sparrow's song, callin' me back to my home

Oh the Sheep River's always flowin', and time just keeps rollin' on
One thing that doesn't ever change: The Alberta Rocky Mountain Range

There's nothin' on this earth like a mountain, risin' up for all to see
How I long for those mountains, the Rockies are the place for me!

The sun is shinin' bright, everything's alright, the mountain top is where I can be free
Out here in the wild, I just gotta smile, the Rockies are the place for me

Oh the Sheep river's always flowin', and time just keeps rollin' on
One thing that doesn't ever change is the Alberta Rocky Mountain Range
